JOB DESCRIPTION
Build estimators work in the construction industry compiling estimates of how much it will cost to construct a building to a certain specification. They assess material, labour and equipment costs and analyse quotes from sub-contractors and suppliers in order to get the best price that will win the contract in a competitive bidding situation.
DUTIES AND TASKS
A building estimator may perform the following tasks:
- obtaining and assessing sub-contractor quotes
- obtaining prices from suppliers
- reading drawings and specifications
- liaising with customers.
