Trade Business Owner

JOB DESCRIPTION

A person running their own trade business executes their trade, working as a self-employed contractor or sub-contractor. They may service domestic, commercial or industrial customers, building, fixing or maintaining systems or structures. They may work solely on their own or have employees including apprentices. They focus on the financial success and smooth operation of the business, the resolution of customer problems or situations and customer loyalty.

DUTIES AND TASKS

A person running a trade business may perform the following duties:

  • allocates and schedules jobs
  • sets behaviour guidelines and gives instructions to employees
  • provides quotes and talks to customers
  • employs staff and / or apprentices
  • keeps detailed financial records of income and expenses
  • oversees the profitability of the company.
