JOB DESCRIPTION
Mechanics work on the mechanical and electronic parts of motor vehicles which may include the engine, transmission or suspension systems. Specialisations include working on motor bikes, or on heavy vehicles such as trucks, harvesting or earth moving equipment, or on buses, trains, trams and other forms of transport.
DUTIES AND TASKS
A mechanic may perform the following tasks:
- inspect vehicles
- disassemble, reassemble, restore and overhaul components
- replace damaged parts
- undertake electronic diagnostic testing to identify the source of a fault or failure
- customer interaction.
