JOB DESCRIPTION
Turf Keepers (green keepers) have knowledge of different grasses or other surfaces to suit the purpose and function of a range of grounds and areas including sports fields, golf greens, parks and gardens. Using knowledge and experience they prepare and maintain grounds, use fertilizers, control pests and diseases, renovate worn and damaged turf and grasses, and maintain machinery to execute these duties.
DUTIES AND TASKS
A turf manager may perform the following tasks:
- select and sow grasses for a designated purpose
- prepare ground to establish turf
- apply top dressing and fertilizer
- control pests and diseases
- repair damaged turf
- mow and maintain turf and greens
- use and maintain machinery.
