JOB DESCRIPTION
A player contract manager works closely with a sports person, and sometimes a players association, to negotiate salary and work conditions. They may also be involved in negotiating a player’s individual sponsorships. Because contract negotiations are an important aspect of the job, contract managers may have a law degree or use the services of a lawyer.
DUTIES AND TASKS
Player contract managers may perform the following tasks:
- negotiate contracts with a club or organisation
- negotiate individual sponsorships
- arrange meetings
- oversee the negotiating process
- research the current market and stay up-to-date with trends in the industry.
