JOB DESCRIPTION
A gallery or museum guide supplies information and conducts tours for visitors, meets and greets visitors, manages visitors’ access to exhibits and maintains security. A guide may also be involved in maintaining records of attendance and may assist with installing or dismantling exhibits.
DUTIES AND TASKS
Gallery or museum guides may perform the following tasks:
- welcome visitors
- present information about the exhibition
- communicate and discuss the exhibition with visitors
- apply protocols to keep the group under control
- apply protocols to keep the exhibits secure
- ensure visitors are safe and enjoying the exhibition.
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
- enthusiastic about the exhibition
- outgoing and friendly
- excellent communication skills
- ability to handle groups of all ages with patience
- able to follow protocols and guidelines
