JOB DESCRIPTION
A welder operates a welding machine to fix or make an item or metal structure made from metal or steel.
DUTIES AND TASKS
A welder may perform the following tasks:
- operate a welding machine for the purpose of fixing or making metal products, bend or re-shape items
- control the processes of burning and welding to avoid problems in relation to overheat or distortion
- read specifications
- examine finished product to determine weld joins are sound
- use x-ray machines to inspect and test the strength and accuracy of weld joins.
