JOB DESCRIPTION
A sport talent scout evaluates the talent and skill of professional and amateur athletes, and makes judgements about a players’ ability to perform at elite levels in a sport. They often work for a professional club or organisation and may have a background in playing or coaching sport.
DUTIES AND TASKS
Sports talent scouts may perform the following tasks:
- attend sports events to spot players with talent
- review video footage to identify exceptional players
- conduct testing to determine ability, strength or endurance
- liaise with senior staff and coaches at a sporting club or organisation.
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
- judgement and decision making skills
- personal confidence in ability to make good judgements
- interpersonal and communication skills
- love of sport
- appreciation of the requirements to be successful in elite sport
