JOB DESCRIPTION
To work as an Art Auctioneer, you will need to become both a specialist in fine art and a savvy business-person. You will need a passion for art and an ability to research and value art in the art marketplace. A degree in art history will be expected by some art auction houses.
DUTIES AND TASKS
Art Auctioneers may perform the following tasks:
- inspecting items and assessing their value
- negotiate with the seller on a reserve price
- produce publicity materials or catalogues
- describe the items to the customers from the platform
- observe customers and call out their bids
- research current and average prices
- organising transport, security and insurance of goods.
